* A flash calculation is an equilibrium calculation of a system where several components (species) and phases are present at the same time. This is a demonstration how to use the thermodynamics interface to make flash calculations from data provided external thermodynamic databases. The system in this model is Methane/Ethane/Propane, which would require 3D surfaces to plot the phase envelope. ...
A battery’s possible energy and power outputs are crucial to consider when deciding in which type of device it can be used. A cell with high rate capability is able to generate a considerable amount of power, that is, it suffers from little polarization (voltage loss) even at high current loads. In contrast, a low rate-capability cell has the opposite behavior. The former type is often denoted ...
An axisymmetric 3D structure such as a conical horn antenna can be simulated in a fast and efficient way using only its 2D layout. In this model, the antenna radiation and matching characteristics are computed very quickly with respect to the dominant TE mode from the given circular waveguide by simulating the 2D axisymmetric geometry of an 3D antenna structure.
A diplexer is a device that combines or splits signals into two different frequency bands, widely used in mobile communication systems. This model simulates splitting properties using a simplified 2D geometry. The computed S-parameters and electric fields at the lower and upper bands will show the diplexer characteristics in the Ka-band.
In this model, you build and solve a 2D beam model using the 2D Structural Mechanics Beam interface. This model describes the eigenfrequency analysis of a simple geometry. A point mass and point mass moment of inertia are used in the model. The two first eigenfrequencies are compared with the values given by an analytical expression.
In the search for weight reduction, the cross-section of an eyeglass frame is continuously reduced. The thin section over the nose transfers the entire load between the two halves. This example predicts the fatigue life using the combined Basquin and Coffin-Manson model when eyeglasses are subjected to bending.
This model computes the fundamental eigenfrequency and eigenmode for a tuning fork that is synchronized from Creo Parametric via the LiveLink interface. The length of the fork is then optimized so that the tuning fork sounds the note A, 440 Hz.
This tutorial example illustrates the versatility of the *Reaction Engineering* interface. The hydrogen iodine reaction is modeled in a batch reactor with constant volume. Both isothermal and non-isothermal conditions are modeled.
Many trucks are equipped with cranes for load handling. Such cranes have a number of hydraulic cylinders controlling the motion, and several mechanisms. In this application, a rigid body analysis of a crane is performed in order to find the payload capacity for the specified orientation and extension of the crane. This application also provides the usage of hydraulic cylinders and highlights ...
This model, dealing with the current and potential distribution around one pair of electrodes, demonstrates how to synchronize and modify geometry in SolidWorks by using the LiveLink interface.
