Waveguide Iris Bandpass Filter

Application ID: 12737

A conductive diaphragm, an iris, placed transverse to a waveguide aperture causes a discontinuity and generates shunt reactance. Bandpass frequency response can be achieved from cascaded cavity resonators combined with these reactive elements which can be created by inserting a series of iris elements inside the waveguide. This model consists of a X-band waveguide WR-90 and symmetrical inductive diaphragms (irises). The calculated S-parameters show good bandpass response and out-of-band rejection.

The combination of COMSOL® products required to model your application depends on the physics interfaces that define it. Particular physics interfaces may be common to several products (see the Specification Chart for more details). To determine the right combination of products for your project, you should evaluate all of your needs in light of each product\'s capabilities, consultation with the COMSOL Sales and Support teams, and the use of an evaluation license.
